What I liked

The chicken was perfect. If he was in a chicken costume, one would think it was a real chicken right down to his sounds and moves.

What I didn't like

I thought that maybe a little more expansion about the purpose and meaning of the road could have been explored. It would have been interesting to see where the play goes when thinking about the road being there and what would the chicken do if there was no road?

My overall impression

Have you ever pondered this philosophical question that is the title of this play? By the end of the play, you may or may not be satisfied by the inevitable answer. Along the road, you will be presented with words played by individual characters that try to find meaning to their existence and purpose. There are the multiple “The’s” that compete for importance, Cross, the verb which without, there would be no question. There are all the other words that try to find a context in their relationship with the other words and their ultimate significance. But, it’s the Chicken and the Road whose intersection make this play the entertaining story of meaning and purpose that will leave the audience with the simple answer that has plagued man since a chicken first crossed a road. You’ll be surprised when you find out you’ve been overthinking the answer all this time.
