What I liked

Tanya’s characters are so fun, especially her narrator. The story she shares is an important one, she being a minority in a city that many here in the U.S. don’t know much about (maybe just speaking for myself). Sharing her voice on feeling less than, which I think we all can relate to, tells us to embrace our differences rather than praise only a majority view. Her story reminded me that we are all also more alike deep down than we think, whether here in the United States or in Singapore, and finding a place where we thrive and can express ourselves, so that others can feel safe too, is a worth while journey.

What I didn't like

Sometimes it was difficult to understand her narrator, in the beginning. But she addresses this and teaches the audience about Sing-lish, which was very helpful.

My overall impression

Tanya moves about the stage grounded and with grace. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about her background and the culture of Singapore. Great use of props and the stage space. Her show felt like it had a natural flow, easy to follow and a joy to watch.
