The performances of the janitors made me forget they are not full time acting professionals. Their personal connection to the story made it come to life. Their energy takes over the theatre and captures the audience.
What I didn't like
No improvements, but I’m excited to see how the rest of the story unfolds as the janitor’s fight continues.
My overall impression
Ya Basta is a powerful story told through passion and strength. Janitors share the history of their union and their current struggle to keep themselves safe from sexual assault on the job and other oppressive forces they face as immigrant workers. Instead of being victims they take power into their own hands and become a force for change.
