What I liked

I admire Unreal City for tackling the genre in a hugely ambitious manner. Seriously, this thing will blow your mind with its multiple tracks and moving structural parts. The cast tackles the show with gusto. Also, I witnessed some truly sharp improvised moments from performers reacting to and utilizing audience reactions during the scenes. That provided some of the most engaging moments during the show.

What I didn't like

It seems they bit off more than they could chew. Too many moving parts, I think, broke this show. The plot is bold, but not a single audience member I spoke with after our show understood any aspect of what was going on. Simplifying this piece would have gone a long way to making it more effective and relatable. Obviously there is talent on display here but the show is a bit of a convoluted mess.

My overall impression

Stunningly ambitious, this inventive immersive piece features a surprising amount of interaction with a large number of characters as the play unfolds. Unfortunately, convoluted language and story undermine an enthusiastic cast and makes it nearly impossible to care about anyone by the end.
