One of the more unique and fun productions at the Fringe. If you love spooky stories and want a more immersive theatrical experience, then this is the show for you!... full review

This was a really fun show! The cast and foley crew do a great job re-creating the 1940's radio play atmosphere. Never a dull moment, full of action and intrigue. Glad I got a chance to catch this at Fringe this year. ... full review

I really enjoyed this show. The actors were on point and I really felt drawn into the storyline. I loved the sounds effects presented right in front, the oldtimey radio feel, and the comic relief throughout. The juxtaposition of the ominous creepy stories and the laugh-out-loud comedic skits left me on the edge of my seat. From start to finish this was a very well thought out and executed show.... full review

Lights out in the hermits cave is a fresh take on the vintage days when we got our thrills and scares on the radio. It is the right mix of fun and creepiness to keep you both at the edge of your seats and entertained. I am especially thrilled that this is another woman led project defying conventions! ... full review

Don't let the funny bits fool you, this is an absolutely spooky piece of theater. So well done, so spine-tingling -- for real! Ghost stories in the dark, live foley, perfect acting, and spot-on directing -- what a great night of theater. And prizes! This was just an all-around wonderful show. Bravo, Angela Acuna & crew!... full review

Lights Out at the Hermit's Cave comes from a place of pure fun. An ensemble of very good performers demonstrate over-the-top means "good" if done well and in the right context. This company, The Hermit's Cave, stages in a dark room horror radio plays from the 1940s. Not as radio plays, but rather acted out all around you the audience, albeit with a foley artist and live musician to add ambiance. It works! It works delightfully, even in a simple meeting room with most of the lights turned off. I can only imagine how spectacularly this concept might work in a different environment--somewhere with brick walls, maybe a stained glass window and/or an alcove! Of course this kind of thing just grabs the imagination of a Dark Shadows/Night Gal... full review

An enjoyable throwback to the radio dramas our grandparents would have listened to, when their imaginations were a necessary part of the equation.... full review

Welcome to a Big (8000 sq'!), Clean, New 2nd-floor collection of Performance Spaces @ Western & Santa Monica! Alas, ALL of its Fringe productions are Poor Prospects, a Bummer for a New-to-Fringe Venue! THIS show wins the WANE Award: "Worst Amateur Night Ever", at least in MY 5 years of festing! NOT a recreation of Old Time Radio and NOT a satire of it either. The Only Real Mystery is what these talent-free people THINK they're doing! There's a sound-effects table---but no efx! There's a keyboard---but (almost) no music! And the three-person cast frequently runs around the audience in dim-to-dark lighting! Were they directed to do so---by anyone? Will YOU care? I certainly didn't! ... full review
