I have seen this show from conception, from the very first workshop at The Lyric Hyperion. From then, I've seen it two more times. The laughter I felt in the room, the energy I felt with the audience is unlike any live show I have ever attended. But what matters the most to me about this show is the MESSAGE of unity and love across all races that Bill Posley speaks so passionately about. I belly laughed and I cried along with my fellow audience members and it created a night of theater enjoyment I'll never forget. This show must not be missed. You'll want to be there for later on so you'll have bragging rights to say "I attended this show at the Hollywood Fringe and now look how far it's come :)."... full review

This show should be a Netflix comedy special. If you liked Daily Show Hasan Minhaf's "Homecoming King," you will absolute love this. Hilarious, heartbreaking, engaging every single moment, "The Day I Became Black" cannot be missed. I guarantee you'll regret it if you do. Bill Posley is a force and star in the making. The way he mixes stand up with storytelling with characters, hitting you with a hard joke one second and putting you in tears the next, Bill's ability to express his perspective on growing up biracial in America is undeniably fresh and enlightening.... full review

Short version: This is a show/story EVERYONE should see. Bill Posley is inspiring. Long: Bill Posley is an INCREDIBLE talent that navigates the stage & audience like Frodo taking The Ring to Mordor. The journey begins and takes us through all kinds of exciting moments & emotions. It then continues on to some very real & difficult places. Bill is able to execute heavy subject matter while keeping the audience safe (& very entertained) like no one I’ve ever seen. I was thrilled during the show and still think about its impact. Bravo to him. And to anyone who has not seen this yet, DO SO!!!... full review

This is a difficult show, make no bones about it. But it is an important, well-crafted, balanced and honest show. All that said, it's funny where it can be and poignant where it needs to be. See it. ... full review

Bill has the unique ability to flawlessly switch between comedy and making poignant sociopolitical statements. I found myself laughing hysterically, then feeling like my heart was being ripped open, and just as the tears were flowing, he had me cracking up again. He is an incredibly smart, gifted, hilarious, vulnerable and passionate performer, and this show is a masterpiece.... full review
