What I liked

Cast, direction, music/musicians, simplicity of the set, which was in line with the spirit of the Fringe, but mostly just the overall tightness of the production. I felt like I got a great entertainment value for a mere $10. Oh, and a piece of stage business, which I won’t reveal here, because it’d require a spoiler alert.

What I didn't like

Not really anything meaningful. There was one POSSIBLY somewhat tardy entrance on account of a ridiculously fast change, so if the writer wanted to figure out a clever fix for that, okay. BUT the animated orchestra members created an amusing cover for it, so so be it.

My overall impression

So – much – fun! This surpassed any play I’ve seen at the Fringe Festival in any year that I’ve gone. Starts with a bang, and then continues the rise. Very tightly directed, so kudos to Guy Picot. He found all the funny, all the kitsch… not to dismiss the cast, who were all stellar, who fully committed and delivered the goods. And the musicians were musically masterful AND incorporated into the fabric of the play. The upbeat message of the piece is only made more interesting by the darker comedy elements of the story. The only place where I took pause and thought, “Wha…?” was the number “The Creaminess of Milk.” But Zachary Bernstein had a payoff for it just a little scene or two later, so, in the spirit of the quirky li’l piece, it was worth it.
