The cast is so charismatic! There is some great singing, as well. The piece also stands alone if you’ve never seen the tv show.
What I didn't like
The technical prep was a little touch and go. Some of the transitions felt longer than necessary for the simplicity of the staging. The vocal mics were mixed a bit tinny and the delayed reverb effect was sometimes distracting. Moments in the choreography weren’t up to the same standard as others which sometimes left the performers seeming a bit like they were improving choreo to fill gaps.
My overall impression
Fun from beginning to end! It’s more like an episode of a show than a straight-up parody, which is a VERY good thing. It’s effective, both as a loving roast of the source, and as a story about a group of eccentric characters experiencing some classic sitcom shenanigans. The music is creative and well-suited to the characters and feel of the show. The lyrics are quite funny. And the performers are well cast and find ways to make each character both reflective of the source AND believable in context. If you don’t enjoy this show, there’s something wrong with you.
