I thought that Farida Amer’s performance was exceptional, and the few jokes that did land for me we’re pretty hilarious.
What I didn't like
It’s possible I’m just not the audience for this, and humor is entirely subjective. This show is supposed to be a comedy, but few jokes actually hit for me. And I can’t quite place why, which is really bugging me. I don’t know if it was the performances if the timing was off that didn’t make the jokes hit off at the right time, or if it is the writing. Honestly, I think it’s some combination of the three, so I have trouble suggesting a solution. So my suggestion is to maybe do some more work shopping on this play, go though a couple more rewrites. I do think there’s some potential, I just don’t think it has been achieved yet.
My overall impression
An attempt to criticize the oversensitivity of the world we live in, as well as make this show a comedy devolves into a below average show. And while some really valid points are brought up about the subject, one can’t help but feel that in most parts, that the audience is just being talked at. Also, you’ll never want to hear the term “glueten free vegan burritos” again.
