Compelling and skillful writing by Lucy Gillespie and captivating performances by the entire cast. There were moments I forgot I was in a small Hollywood theater. I think this piece could serve as a link to bring in new LA theater audiences by enticing them with a subject that they are familiar with such as the Kardashian’s. This show can entertain both the theater-lovers and the nontraditional theater-goers to introduce them to this ode to classic theatre with a modern and familiar lens.
What I didn't like
I was horrified at how much I actually knew about the Kardashian’s and how many references I picked up on. There was some late seating, but the empty seats were in the middle of rows. An easy fix is asking everyone to move down before the show starts so it is easy to slip people in.
My overall impression
Clever writer, Lucy Gillespie playfully weaved the classic style with the modern setting. Great length. I hope to see this show live on past Fringe to reach a new young audience.
