A Beast/A Burden

This was a really well thought out show. I was afraid it was going to be a one-man, monologue, which I am truly tired of. This was a re-enactment of one of the premier performance artists of all time. And the performances were absolutely amazing. "Chris Burden" did some physical things that are remarkable. And he was so totally convincing, he was almost channeling the real artist. If you know who CB is, go. If you don't know who CB is, you absolutely must go! And a huge thank you to the supporting cast! I really hope this show is seen and appreciated by loads of people.... full review

It took me a couple days to let this piece sit and resonate. This piece speaks on something that no one seemingly quite understands: what exactly is art? Someone can get so much out of this show or so very little, but for me, it was definitely the former. It's such an exhilarating ride from start to end, as I didn't know much about Chris Burden, but I absolutely loved the avant-garde element to the storytelling, and the performances were fantastic. If you don't know about Chris Burden, this show is the perfect way to introduce yourself to his work. If you are already familiar with Burden, you'll enjoy the accuracy of his story told through each sequence of events. It's very easy to imagine Beast/A Burden expanding into a larger arena and selling out shows in other cities. More eyes need to be on this piece.... full review

Why are some superbly talented artists wildly celebrated and “successful” during their lifetimes, while others with equal talent are ignored? Who knows?
