This was a really well thought out show. I was afraid it was going to be a one-man, monologue, which I am truly tired of. This was a re-enactment of one of the premier performance artists of all time. And the performances were absolutely amazing. "Chris Burden" did some physical things that are remarkable. And he was so totally convincing, he was almost channeling the real artist. If you know who CB is, go. If you don't know who CB is, you absolutely must go! And a huge thank you to the supporting cast! I really hope this show is seen and appreciated by loads of people.... full review

Less a play and more a document, you will leave the theater knowing more about a prominent LA artist.... full review

It took me a couple days to let this piece sit and resonate. This piece speaks on something that no one seemingly quite understands: what exactly is art? Someone can get so much out of this show or so very little, but for me, it was definitely the former. It's such an exhilarating ride from start to end, as I didn't know much about Chris Burden, but I absolutely loved the avant-garde element to the storytelling, and the performances were fantastic. The writing and directing were very strong and kept me engaged. It keeps me thinking constantly days afterward about the meaning of art--what exactly is art?... full review

Chris Burden is a fascinating artist, and this show does a great job of delving into the intention behind his art. Solid performances all around, and a great script and direction from Billy Ray Brewton. Highly recommend it!... full review

A compelling behind the scenes glimpse of a performance artist. This made me want to go out and learn more about Chris Burden. I loved how they showed how the close relationships around the artist were affected as his art became more provocative.... full review

This project screams talent from every corner. Thoroughly enjoyed this show! Saw it twice. One with the director, Billy Ray, playing one of the roles, it was exciting to see the cast shift with him in that role. ... full review

If you don't know about Chris Burden, this show is the perfect way to introduce yourself to his work. If you are already familiar with Burden, you'll enjoy the accuracy of his story told through each sequence of events. It's very easy to imagine Beast/A Burden expanding into a larger arena and selling out shows in other cities. More eyes need to be on this piece.... full review

The play still resonates with me after watching it the first time. Excellent acting and production. The actor does a spot-on performance of Chris Burden and successfully brings the artist to life. The play is tastefully performed and truly lives up to intimate theatre. Bravo. Recommend. ... full review

Why are some superbly talented artists wildly celebrated and “successful” during their lifetimes, while others with equal talent are ignored? Who knows? As E.M. says, “Only connect!” Ben Heathcoat as Burden is excellent as the self centered seemingly (deeply) innocent exhibitionist is compelled to compel the public to further burden Burden with pity and praise. ... full review
