What I liked

The dialog was snappy and fast paced. I particularly liked the actors Hank Doughan, Katelyn Schiller and David Garver. The director Matt Richey and Playwright Ben Schwartz make a good team and produced an exciting piece of work. I hope to see more of their work in the future. It was worth the drive from Orange County.

What I didn't like

The d.o.e. agent did not project his voice and I had trouble hearing him in the back of the room. I was lost at the beginning of the play missing the dialog that should have set the pace and tone needed to open the play. I wish he had projected his voice. He was a handsome man though.

My overall impression

American Conspiracy was an intense well-acted and written play, switching between two plot themes, the women in the restaurant and the government. It is a different take on the Hinkley story interspersed with Beatles symbolism and metaphors that remind you how important the Beatles, especially John Lennon, were in advocating for peace in a violent era. We still have our conspiracy theories and this one was unexpected unless you know the history behind the assassination attempt on President Reagan. The playwright makes you think about things that happen today that we are unaware of and maybe don’t learn about until years later.
