What I liked

There are some absolutely gorgeous voices in this cast and the pianist is fantastic.

What I didn't like

There were so many subplots vying for attention that it was hard to distinguish what the main plot was. Without that main driving story line, it felt as if this production wasn’t entirely sure of what story it was trying to tell. Several of the songs were fantastic, but the majority of them were written/performed in the style of Les Miz’s “Confrontation.” Characters battling out a moment vocally can be extremely powerful. However, when the majority of songs are sung like that, they lose their power and become a cacophony of beautiful, yet indistinguishable voices.

My overall impression

It is not for lack of talent that this show doesn’t work for me, it is for lack of a well-honed and polished script. The subject matter is something that absolutely needs to be explored and discussed, but this musical needs refinement before it can truly take on that task.
