Funny and entertaining. The performers were (by and large) strong comedians who knew how to land the material. Some decent songs (along with some that need a final push towards a memorable melody). I appreciated the economy of the storytelling but do think a little more room to breathe will allow her journey a little more emotional (and comedic) resonance. Her concern for Shelley’s disappearance appears to be key, and could use a little more focus. Remini’s story is a kind of “deal with the devil” tale — to what extent will we sacrifice our own integrity for personal gain? I wonder if we should get more of a sense of the choice she is weighing and why it’s difficult for her. The show is reaching for some emotional resonance at the end, which is the right path. Another draft or two and I suspect they will get there. Glad I saw it.
