I attended the show with a sense of alacrity since I have seen this actor in a previous production. Paul Yen could be forgiven if he expressed his experience wearing a racial mask in Hollywood with an irascible attitude, but Secret Identity Crisis explored his vexations by enlightening his audience with laughter, thoroughly researched history, spry dreams of an immigrant family, and suave-wise acting....

Paul Yen's one-man show discusses the often-overlooked disparity of male Asian-Americans portrayal in the media and the "white-washing" of Asian roles. Through the guises of superheroes, Yen explores the Asian-American experience with a historical lens while sprinkling in anecdotes of his own childhood. His compelling performance was methodical and seamless as he transitioned from character to character. Though we see negative stereotypes depicted frequently on the the television and movie screens, Yen creates a dialogue that engages the audience to look beyond the masks and bias. It was a thought-provoking show that resonated well with me, an Asian-American. I remember my own arduous search for identity and role-models during adolescen...

Overall I feel this show really hit home for me. It touched base with my roots as a bi-racial individual and really reflected all of the feelings and experiences I went through growing up in America. I feel like this show is a start of a new beginning for others to express their background and the experiences of their culture. We live in such a diverse world that we need diverse heroes to be admired and appreciated. A wonderful show and a must see! ...

The show was very impressive. Aside from shedding light on the challenges of growing up as an Asian American, Paul gave a performance that was both engaging and educational. He was able to incorporate humor in his performance, but the jokes never overstayed their welcome. If given another opportunity, I would not hesitate to watch the performance again and invite my friends!...

A Must See
I was very impressed with the show! It showed a lot of different emotions that a person can feel at any moment of any day. From happy and joyous to sad and misunderstood. The story was great, solid connection to the characters because they were developed well, Good acting and consistent undivided attention to see what is coming up next! Great job! I look forward to seeing this again and definitely more from Paul on a bigger screen!...
