My overall impression
This show was amazing. I’ve seen a lot of shows at the festival that were good, but this was far and away the best. The writing was incredible. It’s hard with a musical to strike the right balance of comedy, meta-jokes and fun with an interesting story, and this show really did it, 100%.
The direction was also fantastic. The show always moved at a clip and there was never a dull moment. Ever. The acting was really top-notch, as well, and the music was memorable and catchy. I had a few stuck in my head for a few days after the show.
I really, really hope a producer picks this show up and allows it to run somewhere else after the festival, because it really is one of the best things I’ve seen in a long, long time. This show needs to keep going, for sure.
