The actors were amazing and this writer/director is one to watch. This man will make lots of money as a writer because the dialogue is that great! Real and wonderful to follow. I didn't want to miss a word. Funny and i cared about each character. The casting was magnificent! Bravo! As a writer I am in complete admiration and as an actress I hope to one day live in one of his characters. ... full review

The Birthday Boys is an example of what I wish more theater in LA resembled. This piece was bold, engaging and purposeful. Writer/Director Aaron Kozak shows real artistic maturity in tackling the topic he chose. There are no "loose ends" in his piece, and I left the theater very satisfied. The cast, specifically the actors portraying the three kidnapped marines, brilliantly lead the audience on an emotionally charged journey of hope, fear, anxiety, camaraderie and even humor. I highly recommend this play to anyone interested in a good night of live theater. This cast/crew really nailed it.... full review

Through the majority of the play, the men are blindfolded and bound, limiting their movement to scooching around on their backsides. Keeping themselves distracted they place bets on who will piss their pants first and as the play goes on, they end up sharing their souls. The second act takes on a more serious turn as the three marines are forced to make ransom vid... full review

Reposted from www.LATheatreReview.com: The Birthday Boys at The Complex Theatres by Marcus Kaye~ To say that this very well may be the best thing to go up in the Fringe is an understatement. The Birthday Boys is written, directed and performed to perfection. Playwright Aaron Kozak effortlessly taps into the psyches of three Prisoners Of War in Iraq. Painting a vivid and accurate picture of America’s involvement in Iraq, the first act focuses solely on our three heroes, captured while keeping a storage unit secure. Bound and gagged, they are thrown into a warehouse, their futures left up to the darkness of their imaginations. They bond and somehow manage to find the humor in their situation, placing bets on whom will piss their pa... full review
