My overall impression
KING DICK is an extraordinary piece of theatre. I’d put this show up against any show I’ve seen in town, and I see a lot of theatre outside the fringe. Totally engaging and hilarious throughout the entire performance with a rockstar ensemble cast. The expertly crafted dialogue, and insanely superb acting by Christian Levatino marks this play as not only my favorite fringe experience, but my favorite show I’ve seen in years. I would go over and over again if I could. I want the DVD. For artists, writers and actors, this is a level of professionalism that we should all try to reach for in our own shows. And if we even come close… man we’ll be in good shape. The amount of detail and research that went into this script is just incredible. It’s a slice of life straight from the 70’s with a clever interpretation of what happened in the secret meeting between Nixon and Elvis. This play does not drag at any moment. It does not ask questions. It just takes names and kicks ass. So hard. If you missed this show, you better hope they get extended because this… is theatre.
