Welcome to Tule Lake, California
Tulelake is a historical introspection into California’s not so distant past. Farms and fishers, myths and monsters, treaties and treachery, it weaves together three stories as it moves through times and worlds exploring the political, cultural, and social unrest of the last 150 years.
The voices of the past, turn angry, triumphant, bitter, and hopeful, reverberating in dynamic movement, tribal rhythms, brilliant colors
and the true spirit of storytelling.
Inspired by Noh theater and written entirely in haiku, Tulelake takes a chameleonic chorus through multiple creation myths, identity shifts, and pivotal choices that ask the audience to grapple with the many faces and truths of American history.
