This is one of those rare shows. A lot of comedy spoofing “bad art” can come off as smirking. Especially in Los Angeles. Magnum Opus Theatre elevates writing that at first glance should be placed far, far away. By presenting this material as is, with excellent actors, the audience ends up loving these characters and their, um, unique voices. The audience may start laughing at the incredibly unfortunate train wreck they are witnessing, but they truly end up rooting for Amber and her dreams of love with what I guess is a dead movie star. Or a hallucination? I dunno and I don’t care!
