If you only see one show in the Fringe Festival - see this one. You are guaranteed to be swept away for an hour listening to a wonderfully written, well-paced, funny, poignant story where you will be deeply touched in moments and laugh out loud in others. Keaton Talmadge is a beautiful, gifted, highly talented actor who has that rare ability to invite you into a performance, and you will love the ride. She is sweet and grounded in her vulnerability and crackles with her comic timing. Good theater in LA is common, great theater is rare, and then there's Keaton Talmadge's Define different - which is simply fantastic. ... full review

While I have had the pleasure of seeing Keaton Talmadge perform in the past, I never knew the true depth of her talent until I saw "define: Dif-fer-ent" this afternoon. A thoroughly entertaining journey that moves seamlessly from one story to another as she shares her real life experience. Honest and raw, in the course of one hour I laughed and cried; was moved and intrigued. The writing, by Keaton herself, was brilliant and beautifully lyrical, quick and witty. I had no idea she was as talented a writer as she is an actress. Perfectly directed by Kelleia Sheerin, I was transported, touched, affected, engaged, and heartbroken....all within the space of sixty minutes. I'm going to do everything I can to see it one more time....and you should... full review

It was my second time seeing the show and it was just as captivating as the first time. Great writing that is witty & funny keeps you ‘giggling’ throughout. At the same time the dialogue is poignant & emotional which allows you to do a little soul searching in between. I’m still amazed at her wonderful performance and should be a must see if your into the fringe – BE DIFFERENT. ... full review

Keaton has an amazing ability to capture a depth of emotion that we have all felt at some time in our lives, but the fact that she can write about it and portray this on stage is pure brilliance. She takes the audience on an emotional ride of laughter and tears, surprises and reflection. Her comedic timing is perfection as she, through outstanding direction and natural talent, guides us through the euphoria and heartbreak of loving someone. At the end my face was was wet with tears, not sad tears, but the tears you get when you discover a deeply felt " I got it" . Go see her show on Thursday and see if you get it too.... full review

It's rare to find a show where an actor abandons cleverness and fully embraces the audience. At the time that I am writing this, there is only one performance left. If you have a desire to feel, to understand the subtleties of love, to pull back the veil... go see this show. Never has love, passion, and personal exploration felt so normal and natural. It's a true pleasure to view the world through the lens of Keaton's illuminated heart.... full review
