Great show. Bob takes you on a magical journey that will leave you breathless and wondering "how'd he do that" well after the show ends. I can't wait to see it again!... full review

A great play that isn't about the "tricks" but rather is about a man's struggle with his past political and romantic life. Gebert uses magic as a tool to move the story forward and makes every trick meaningful and important to the context of the overall story. I've never seen anything like it and am glad I did. Go see it!... full review

Bob has done something many magicians strive for; to present magic in a theatrical well acted story driven manner. From start to finish, there is never a dull moment. The show is full of magic, but also full of a story line that keeps you focused and interested in what will happen next. As a magician myself I commend Bob for elevating the art and giving people a glimpse of the many facets of being a magician and living a life full of magic. ... full review

Bob has a knack for captivating his audience not only through his storytelling but also through INSANELY impressive magic tricks! I had no idea what to expect when I got my ticket and was thoroughly impressed with how entertained I was along with the entire audience. Don't know if this would be a spoiler - so just in case SPOILER ALERT - … He interacts directly with the audience and performs MIND BLOWING close up magic tricks. Literally - I'm still trying to figure it out. But why bother, I should just go and enjoy the show all over again! This for sure is a MUST SEE!!! :)... full review

Demystifying Magic, for me, gave life and soul to an entertaining show filled with unique magic effects and mind-bending, head-scratching, "what the hell?" moments. I don't recall ever seeing a magic show with such a fresh presentation, a real, believable story that also includes a "love of my life" narrative that is quite lovely. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend it!... full review

This is an interesting concept- combination bioplay and magic show. It tells the story of a magician's life by showing performances from various stages in his career. It is a credit to the writing that I thought the character portrayed was a real person (though I also figured a fake life would be more eventful). The actor is fairly successful at portraying a wide age range, but really excels with beautiful renditions of some classic magic effects (and a few I'd not seen). fringeblog.webs.com... full review

Doug Henning once said "Magic plus theater equals art." In this tradition, Bob Gebert has created Demystifying Magic, one of the most unique blends of prestidigitation and theatrical drama to hit the stage. Gebert's acting and writing chop shine throughout the production. But it is his careful insertion of a parade of skillfully-executed magic effects, both familiar classics and new original creations, that cleverly express the main characters emotions, advance the story, and throughly entertain. So much about this show impresses. The non-linear storytelling follows the exploits of Richard Ryder and his life in show business from age 5 to age 85, but non necessarily in that order. The show opens with the aged magician at his farewell perf... full review
