About the Project

Thank you to all who came!

Here’s what Fringe is saying about “Did I Just Join A Cult?”:

"With a presentation reminiscent of Spalding Gray, he weaves a narrative so vivid and enthralling that one cannot help but feel a part of his initial foray into the world of immersive theatre. His delivery is both informed and passionate, a descriptive recounting of his journey, having not only lived through the experience but been irrevocably changed by it. Meyers effectively describes his emotional shakeup, a reminder of how theatre, at its best, can be a life-altering experience, capable of providing new focus and direction."

“If you ever feel alone, lost, and underappreciated as an artist, this show will remind you about how art can save others, and yourself.”

“…This impassioned recounting of one person’s experience has a touching universality to it that presents just the right message for Fringe. Something profound can occur when the right piece of art reaches the right audience at the right time.

"Meyers is a solid craftsman as a writer, and from start to finish the piece does not flag as he gets pulled deeper down the rabbit hole of the fictitious cult at the heart of [the story]".

“…prepare to be enthralled by Lawrence’s engaging performance.”

“T
he transformative power of a story well told can save a life and set it on a completely different path…If a piece of art has ever done that for you, you’ll recognize something of yourself in Larry’s show. And if none ever has, who knows? Maybe this will be the one.

“Theater leaves a mark. When the right piece of art reaches the right person, the effect can be deeply impactful. This is the story of someone who found themselves in that position.”

“Meyers is definitely a gifted storyteller. To hear him describe how theater / art touched him so deeply that it altered his own creativity…is deeply moving.”

“Larry’s noir-tinged delivery was compelling and focused.”

Lawrence Meyers is a masterful storyteller, and is truly in his element here! Do not miss.

Highly recommend, Not to be missed!

“I loved this show! I’m a fan of storytelling events and this was a great one.

Synopsis:

“Please tell me you didn’t come here for immersive theatre. So did I, and I’ve been trapped here for 5 months. Help us.”

That’s what the young woman whispered to me in a secluded hallway inside the mysterious OOA Institute.

Curiosity generated by murky images and bizarre leaked documents from an obscure organization led Lawrence Meyers on an adventure that became one part exhiliration, one part terror, and two parts mindfu*kery.

If you’re seeking a true story of a visceral crackpot thrill trip that will scramble your brain and make you question the line between your reality and another’s fiction, you’ve come to the right place….
