GRIEFBOX is back by popular demand after a SOLDOUT run and a Best Solo Performance Nomination at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2024!
Australia’s #1 Grief Expert, Dr. Adelaide Graves, has come to America to present her newest product! GRIEFBOX is a comedy-packed combo of TED Talk wisdom and QVC flair, diving into our obsession with life hacks and the allure of capitalism. Because why to go therapy, when you can buy closure?
“A comedy triumph! One of the best shows I’ve ever seen at Fringe.”- Matt Borjeson, audience review HFF’24
“It was amazing. Run to see it. I laughed throughout the entire thing. Commitment and character work was so well done. It didn’t want it to end.” - Devon Drew, audience review HFF’24
“This show was 10 out of 10. Stuffed to the brim with side splitting comedy, great bits, and of course the grief box.”- Joy Dolo, audience review HFF’24
Originally developed as a 10-minute performance for Coin & Ghost’s “Index of Forbidden Books: A Collection of Short Solo Performances (and Other Dangerous Truths)”, and then as a full length one act for a sold-out run at the 2024 Hollywood Fringe festival, GRIEFBOX is back and better than ever for HFF26.
GRIEFBOX is inspired by society’s relentless quest to find a product to fix all problems, our deification of productivity, and our aversion of discomfort – especially of the emotional variety. Leary delves into these themes with a twisted comedic edge, drawing further inspiration from her own complex relationship with her grandmother, who battled pancreatic cancer and passed away in 2023. The ensuing grieving journey, alongside a mix of well-intentioned but often misguided advice on coping, forms the hilarious yet poignant heart of the play.
