“Damien Rice and Beans” is part singer-songwriter concert, part stand up comedy centered on the hilarious, absurd and complex emotions Esteban Gast wasn’t allowed to feel as a kid. Growing up Latino and Catholic, Esteban had to push down his frustration, anger, and sadness at all costs. Just part of the deal.
And then, one lonely winter night in high school, he discovered Damien Rice, the Irish singer-songwriter known for his quiet intensity. Most importantly, to Esteban, Damien was a man who yelled and cried. In public. Something Esteban didn’t know someone could do.
In this show, Esteban sings as Damien Rice and Beans (to be clear is just like Damien Rice but Latino) and performs funny songs and sad standup and sad songs and funny standup.
Damien Rice and Beans will feature original songs and standup all about the three C’s of showbiz: Colombian, Catholic, and Constantly Told To Be Happy.
