Ugly Lies the Bone

Drama · grim abbey productions · Ages 16+ · 90 mins · United States of America

Lindsey Ferrentino’s Ugly Lies the Bone tells the story of Jess, a veteran who returns home from her third tour in Afghanistan with deep physical and emotional scars to a world that is both too much of the same, and far too different than she remembers. As she struggles to rejoin civilian life in her small hometown, she uses a new VR technology to create a world where she can heal from her wounds, and escape from the pain. In her new world, and the real world, she confronts the past, pushes the limits of her new body, and finds a way back to relationships with family and friends.

This production focuses on a Middle Eastern family and will incorporate live music. Severe burn wounds and themes of war and trauma may be triggering for some people. Strong language is used. Viewer discretion is advised.
