Baby Rock is a bilingual children’s musical in English and Spanish about a young girl, Anastasia, who explores the world and learns how to make a new friend regardless of language barriers and differences. This piece is a translation/adaptation of the original version of the same name, which hails from Madrid, Spain. The piece is written by Carlos De Matteis, adapted/directed by Taylor Bazos and co-produced by Ana Karina Cano and Taylor Bazos. After a sell out run in Ithaca, New York, and the surrounding areas, Baby Rock will be making its Fringe debut at the Hollywood and Edinburgh Fringe festivals. Baby Rock incorporates Spanish, catchy rock music, interactive elements and colorful design in order to transport the audience into the world of Anastasia.
After her grandma passes, Anastasia is left with a new companion. This companion, however, does not speak any English and only speaks Spanish. The two friends learn how to communicate through play, song, dance and gestures and realize that not only can they be friends if they speak different languages, but they can learn from and teach each other. Baby Rock celebrates the joys of diversity, language, music and love and will continue to spread these messages to young audiences around the world!
