Neli, una joven poeta, se encuentra en un lugar misterioso, rodeada de oscuridad. Mictlantecuthtli, el dios azteca de la muerte, la recibe en el Mictlán, el inframundo, al que le asegura que ella pertenece. Es el lugar del que todos venimos y al que todos regresan, el lugar para eventualmente reencontrarte con tus seres queridos. Comprendiendo y aceptando esto, Neli comienza a recitar poemas, pero Mictlantecuhtli la detiene. El arte y la humanidad están prohibidos en el Mictlán. Quetzalcóatl, el dios creador de los humanos, visita el Mictlán, y al encontrarse con Neli, le habla sobre las flores, los cantos y la belleza que existe en la tierra y la vida. Neli deberá de decidir entre quedarse en la seguridad del Mictlán, o dar un salto al vacío atravesando la muerte para seguir su corazón.

 

¿Cuál es nuestro propósito?– Una obra de gran reflexión, basada en la poesía azteca. Este poético espectáculo estimulará tu imaginación a través de la celebración de culturas e idiomas, donde el náhuatl, el español y el inglés se entrelazan.

Neli, a young poet, finds herself in a mysterious place, surrounded by darkness. Mictlantecuthtli, The Aztec God of the Death, welcomes her to Mictlán, their underworld. He assures her this is where she belongs. It is the place everyone comes from and gets back to. A place to eventually be comforted by the ones you love. Understanding  this, Neli begins reciting poems, however Mictlantecuhtli stops her. Art and beauty is forbidden in Mictlán. Quetzalcoatl, the God creator of humans, visits Mictlán, where upon meeting Neli speaks to her about the beauty, the flowers and songs of the world and life. Neli must now decide between staying in Mictlán, where her loved ones will eventually arrive, or follow her passion by plunging into death and uncertainty. 

 

What is our purpose? A play worded by powerful poetry created by Aztecs hundreds of years ago. This show will elevate your senses and enhance your imagination through a celebration of cultures and languages, where Náhuatl, Spanish and English interconnect.
