Teaching a Robot to Love (the Musical)

When I first met Laser, they were so kind and gracious, and that same feeling was definitely carried over to the show. I was escorted in, and kindly given a mask (since I had left mine inside my violin case,) and this very welcoming feeling was carried throughout the whole experience. The story was enjoyable, the musician and singers were amazing, and the way the actors engaged the audience members was inclusive and heartwarming. Which was the theme of the whole evening: A welcoming, warm, in... full review

Mr. Yunioshi

This wonderfully multilayered comedy made me laugh, and then it made me want to cry because the subject matter hit me close to home as I am the mother of two CeltoKorean daughters who struggle with the subtle undertones (and not so subtle undertones) of racism in their daily lives and careers. The tongue in cheek humor was brilliantly rendered - a real Fringe delight. ... full review

Dear Jeff: A Musical Comedy About Suicide & Domestic Abuse

jennifer chun · July 13, 2019 certified reviewer
This show kicked my ass. In the best way possible. Callie Ott was 'singing my life with her words and killing me softly with her song.' Yeah - corny, but completely true. I sat in my car and cried after this show. ... full review

FERTILE.

Heather grabbed me immediately with her exceptional skill at characterization. Frankly, being born in a different social background and having the absolute opposite problem (how NOT to get pregnant) I thought I wouldn't be able to relate. However, her wry humor and boundless energy pulled me along in her journey. ... full review

GOLDFISH

This was a well written, stellar piece of theater. It lulled me into it's rhythmic dreamworld with the even words of John Kolvenbach. The ensemble and direction were impeccable.... full review

How I Became A Superhero

Disclaimer: I was instructed by John Patrick Daly, the writer and central character to have several drinks before the show. Therefore, I can only review what I remember. But, I definitely remember having a good time and laughing loudly. For those of us who are superhero geeks, this show is a blast.... full review

Tell Me About Your Daddy

Ty Pickett is not only a intriguing writer, but a fascinating actor to watch as he moves in and out of the many characters he portrays in this piece. Dumbing down absolutely nothing for his audience, he demands that we think and think fast as he tells the stories of several men in crisis and explores their identities and confining labels. ... full review

(IM)PERFEKT

jennifer chun · June 30, 2019 certified reviewer
This was a lovely, empowering piece. Jannica Olin is a skillful and talented actor who seamlessly carried the audience along with her in her journey through her loss and rediscovery of feminine identity. At one point, Jannica decides to shave her hair completely. I cried as I remembered cutting my mother's hair when she had cancer and how she wept as I did and told me that her femininity was being taken away. This piece explores the absurdity of how important hair is to a woman's self worth. ... full review

Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball

This show was a delightful break from the standard stage show. And although, I know close to nothing about baseball, it was a continuous good time. Brett is engaging and personable in every respect and takes care of his audience with skill and charm. ... full review

The Mayor's Debate of Tranquility, Nebraska

This experience was among my very favorite of Fringe, and I saw it on the last day when my brain was pretty much moosh, so it is saying a lot that the ensemble could easily pull me in, make me belly laugh, and leave me thinking. ... full review
