NOT ANOTHER TEEN SOLO SHOW

This is a warm and heartfelt tale of a young Indian girls in small town USA who is looking for the way to get to the top of the popularity ladder she uses the 90's teen movies for her instruction manual I like this one but be aware of the screaming and yelling of the actress as if she is a fan of a boy band but otherwise you will walk away with this one with more memories of high school.... full review

HerSheMe

A gripping piece of theater expressing thoughts and ideas on women's issues through movement. What makes this work is its ability to tell a story through strong performances and repitition. These girls are up there bearing their souls and it shows. My work is all about, abstract, movement, and ensemble pieces and when its done right, it feels good to continue on in that form, and this is done right. This show is a must see before the end of the festival.... full review

Down In Front

This had a great story with some remarkable performances. I liked how thebactors were fully committed to their characters. What I didn't like was the audience inability to save room for the late comers to sit in chairs and most of us had to sit on the very hard floor. The Italian guy was my favorite. ... full review

I really enjoyed the stories and I was holding on tight on my journey to crazy town. One day, after I submit my mom to the crazy house, I'll be able to write a similar show about her. Thanks for letting us in to your life.... full review

This is a very talented cast. The writers Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell may have changed the musical world by using just four chairs and a keyboard. Rent, spelled with one t changed that world forever. Christopher Maiklish as Jeff and Travis Dixson as Hunter represent the best of what LA actors have to offer. Heather Lake as Heidi, steals her scenes meticulously as a cat burglar with her physical presence, voice, and bright eyes. Maybe I'm biased because I'm also a Michigander and she is my secret f... full review

The Search for Ron Mims

E Targus proves that a one person show can be about the strength of the character. Each character was alive, real, brilliant and familiar. I knowost of the characters played since I am from Detroit and have met them. Targus proves to be one of the best actors in the world of Fringe One Person Land and this show should not have been missed. Ron Mims you'll be missed.... full review

Take Me To The Poorhouse

I don't get it. I don't get the buzz nor do I get the excitement over the thing. "Take Me To The Poor House," while a great statement on children's innocence is campy at best. With one person shos, playing different characters has to be about playing believable characters and not a characature of those characters. Maybe this was a result of the many missteps of the direction, which includes the actor running all over the stage as if there was no direction. While the story has h eart and relevanc... full review

This was a show I decided to go to after realizing that I hadn't heard about it. I am glad I did because this show had heart and potential regardless of the directors missteps. One of the missteps was the clumsy scene changes and the inability to inform the actors that when the lights are not on them they are not"on" and to be careful to not steal focus. But other than that this is a show that speaks on this romantic idea of coming to the city of angels. Very much of the monologues were inner tho... full review
