The Wrong Show: Trigger Happy

A very brave, poignant, and relevant show, and sends Hollywood Fringe Festival out of the gates with balls-a-blazin. Where did they find that Panama Red? I have never seen anyone look like that, such a work of art. Such a rare and beautiful find. ... full review

American Idiot

this is the album that saved my life. it was 2003 and I had just been activated to go to Iraq war. 2004 came around and I returned home and the only thing that could save my mental capacity at the time was music and this album of Green Day was one of them to save me as well as the killers, Sevendust, and many other rock albums. to see the show something that I have been attempting to do since the Broadway days just like another rock musical that changed the world I saw it first with a bunch of se... full review

3 short plays about SEX

This was a travesty of a large proportion. The writing was sloppy and was all over the place in every piece. Casting should have been switched around because the wrong actors in the second and third play were playing the wrong characters. The second play began strong then made a plot turn in the wrong direction. Dont waste your time seeing this show, or you will pray for it to be over like I was doing.... full review

The Most Massive Woman Wins

benny lumpkins · June 21, 2014 certified reviewer
In an age where pin up models ruled, the curvier woman was indeed more acceptable. As recent as the 90s has society accepted waif thin, heroine chic models. Fast forward 20some years later and we as a society are battling a serious problem. A problem where society tells us that curvy and shapely women will not and should not have a place in media and society. The Most Massive Woman Wins, explores this issue with its sharp storytelling, witty and smart direction and effortless performances. Never ... full review

When I Was Sacred

Well its about time. The absurd theater similar to that of the open and living theater has finally hit the Fringe Festival. This play is not the regular boring stuff I have been watching during the festival. It is experimental, yet brilliant, witty yet dumb, fun yet heart warming. If you don't see this show, then shame on you because the fringe may be the only place you'll see something like this. Nina Carlin, in her cheerleader like frame is brave and her and her wild and zany misfit cast are my... full review

One of the best one person shows I have seen in the three years I have been attending the Hollywood Fringe Festival. The characterizations, dialogue and overall performance was stellar. Such a great story and for sure to be a Fringe hit. GO SEE THIS SHOW!... full review

Belli Gemelli: An Opera Sitcom

benny lumpkins · June 14, 2014 certified reviewer
Brilliance ensues in this comedy from the directing team of Kara Morgan and Heidi Tungseth. I can not say enough things about the brilliance of this show. Belli Gemelli was witty, smart, funny, and genius. With the vocal talents of Jon Steinmeier and Timmy Morgan and also the directing duo, this opera sitcom was truly one of the best theatrical things I have ever seen. RUN, as fast as you can to have a side splitting hardy har har good time.... full review

Cecily by Gillian Plowman

Here's a message to all fingers, please start your show on time. Late starts messes up the schedule for a person who wants to squeeze as many shows in one day as possible. With that said fringe is an opportunity to explore theater that wouldn't get the chance to exist. What I'm trying to say is please don't travel across the pond with regular theater that Americans can see anyways. I will say I admire the British accents, dialogue, and emotional connectedness from Dionne Neish as Sheila, DHL Sand... full review

21st Century Marilyn

benny lumpkins · June 14, 2014 certified reviewer
This is definitely a play for the silver hairs, and just might be a Fringe Hit. Although Sandy Mansson is a bit clumsy as an aged Marilyn who is clueless that everything and everyone that she is familiar with in Hollywood is either old or nonexistent, the truth and commitment to a modern day Marilyn rates high on the richter scale of Marilyn portrayals. Albeit an older and out of touch Marilyn. The direction was also a bit clumsy as well as the technical execution but overall the show was "cute" ... full review
