"The Mermaid Who Learned How to Fly"

Kyla did a wonderful job telling the story of THE MERMAID WHO LEARNED HOW TO FLY. Her show started at 10pm, which is late for me for a Friday as I had a very long day already but she bought lots of energy and charm to her character and her story that perked me up right away. She used her body, her voice, and just one scarf to make this one hour show interesting. Her story will stay with me for quite some time and I will make sure to keep all the fairies alive for future generations to come. :-)... full review

THE FANTASTICKS - the original fringe musical (1959)

THE FANTASTICKS was a great way for me to start my 2014 Fringe adventure! A wonderful show with great actors and great directing. The actors were strong enough without a mike to be heard and they all had great chemistry. The mute was a joy to watch as she silently helped actors getting dressed and as she set the mood for each scene. Mortimer and Henry played their roles with such ease and joy, that they could put on their own two-person show and I would go see it. I sat front row next to the har... full review

This show has a very strong script with strong characters. Unfortunately when I saw this production on opening night, the characters seemed to all be insane, neurotic, mean, and dumb, instead of bringing out each persons vulnerability, their fears, their wants, and their needs. I wanted to care for them but I didn't. The chemistry between Cliff and Alice was completely missing. They were at each others throats from beginning to end, yelling at each other, even when they both wanted to devour ... full review
