U and Me and My Best Friend P

This is one strange, crazy weird show that will totally keep you on your feet guessing. Abby seems to have an answer for everything as the audience shouts out letters by which she responds in the form of a Busey-like free-association of words that flow with masterful articulation and memory from her. In between these bits are fantasy tales of princes, princesses, kings and castles. I simply cannot describe this show with extreme accuracy, it is unlike anything I have ever seen before. The show ha... full review

Dear Hollywood: A modern day actress from a bygone era

As a huge lover of old Hollywood, silent films and vintage everything... I absolutely adored this little show. At the helm of it all is adorable Julisa trying to find her way as an old-fashioned gal in a much different Los Angeles than she had bargained for. Her guide of "tips" to get noticed is from an era long past. She visit hotspot locations in hopes of being seen but upon her arrival, finds out that the hippest place in town has turned into a popular retail chain. This outdated list le... full review

Dating: Adults Embracing Failure

This is the absolute perfect fringe show to take a date to. It's cute, witty, snappy and charming. The play is really a series of vignettes that all connect within each other and some fun pickup (and breakup) patter to round it all out. Josh Lanzet & Lindy Voeltner spin through each character and relationship with ease, including each unique physicality and voice. The two clearly have comedic timing command of the material and the acting chops to go dramatic when the material requires it. Jo... full review

Fish Out Of Whiskey:A Lawyer Who Just Wants You Off His Case

This show is heartwarming, sincere, a little dirty and charming. I loved listening to Wade speak about his childhood memories, places he's been and the things he thought were cool back in the day. The absolute best parts of this show come when Mr. Skalsky really drops his guard and starts goofing off. When he just acts completely natural it becomes pretty hard to not lean in with your fist on your chin and just smile. There are some SOLID puns and a couple nice pieces of poetic prose. A nice way... full review

Inside The Mind Of Me

"Inside The Mind Of Me" feels so real and honest. The play is haunting, seductive with just a touch of fantasy. All around this is a pretty solid piece of theatre that really attempts to hit on some heavy themes. There are some really stunning projections that perfectly coincide with the events that are happening onstage. At times, the events become a little hazy, but you pick up right back into it. The fight choreography actually terrified me... in that it didn't even look like choreography.. i... full review

Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story

"Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story" fires HARD on all cylinders. The cast is not only talented, but extremely well rehearsed (something you can't say about most fringe shows this year). The writing is quick, witty and accessible. I admit, I've never seen an episode of "Who's The Boss?" so I was a bit unsure going in whether or not I would understand references or the show in general. Writer, Damien Luvara, has carefully taken his laymen audience into consideration while still staying true to the ... full review

King of Kong: A Musical Parody

I had first heard about “King of Kong: A Musical Parody” when it was still being developed at Sacred Fools during “Serial Killers”. If you don’t know “Serial Killers”, it’s quite the unique format. A late night show where plays compete in 10 minute stints for a chance to move onto the following week with the audience entirely deciding the fate of each piece. It’s a whole lot of fun and every night is completely different. If you’re not familiar with the original source material, “King of Kon... full review

Marry Me A Little

SONDHEIM. Let your inner musical theatre kid scream a little with excitement. Now "Marry Me A Little" is certainly not the penultimate Sondheim show. In fact, the show is mainly comprised of songs that were cut from other musicals like "Company", "Follies", "A Little Night Music", "Saturday Night", "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" and "Anyone Can Whistle". That is not to say that these songs are bad. Not at all. This is quite the jukebox of some brilliant, gorgeous music. With tha... full review

The Video Games

So I've been playing video games ever since I can remember. I still play them, and quite frequently. That being said, I am the target demographic for this show. The fight choreography in this show is brutal in the best way. It is evident that a great deal of time was spent refining each character's individual style of fighting and they pull it off quite well. Some standout moments is when Donkey Kong pummels the stage like a ground stomp and all the other characters in perfect sequence drop right... full review

Murder Blood Bear Story

I simply cannot say enough good things about this show, but I'll try. This is storytelling at its finest. Katelyn Schiller is just a quirky, magnificent, ball of energy from the second you walk in. She is so vulnerable and transparent during the performance. The script is filled with some really gorgeous moments of symbolism and clever metaphors. This is a poignant show that challenges the audience to really decide where happiness takes focus in their lives. Are we looking for it in the wrong pl... full review
