Cookie & The Monster

I was delighted to have caught a performance of Cookie & The Monster. A very worthy play with dedicated actors (As always with Sacred Fools peeps). I'll go see anything and everything that is in the dark comedy genre and this cuts right to the veins with the rest of em'. Very slick directing. There are a lot of scene, time and location changes but the cast keeps the pace up the entire time. Great costumes and some beautiful choreographed moments create lovely picturesque moments that show off tha... full review

Fun show! Some unexpected twists and a good number of laugh out loud moments. The concept of the piece is what intrigued me and it didn't disappoint. There are a couple moments where it feels like it is about to end, but picks up again right away. Victor Isaac is hilarious and all in all a pretty good show.... full review

Hard Sexy Serious Love Conversations

Hard Sexy Serious Love Conversations is well executed, written and thought out. A genuine character study that examines the themes of sex, money and power. Very cool lighting in the form of table lamps on the stage hitting the actors with some nice front side light that create great shadows and compliment that dark, ominous tone that this play sets. The set dressing was lovely and brought us into the world immediately. This play will certainly make you think and laugh a bit. ... full review

TIMEHEART

The only that that is missing from this show is a Broadway set. I loved this show. Fantastic, lush harmonies. Some really cool shoegaze sort of dream psych pop from "The Timerheart" shhh... you don't know who that is yet. Funny, funny bits and very clever use of the stage. I've seen a lot of shows in this theatre and never have I felt that the stage felt more full and used than this show. Wonderfully blocked and I had a really great time seeing this show. Good use of the lighting too! You will no... full review

Breaking Bard

Very well written. This adaptation is hilarious, well acted, smart directing and entertaining the whole way through. A definite must see for Breaking Bad and Shakespeare lovers. If you've never seen Breaking Bad, don't bother because you will be completely lost. But they knock it out of the park if you know the show. Recreating classic moments from the show **spoiler** "The Fly" episode, and it's all just so well done. This is a must for an extension.... full review

Thumb Wars

This play has a great message behind it and a lot of heart. Analyzing and criticizing the way we communicate via technology, especially with those we care about, is important to make sure that we don't fall into these same rhythms. The play is short and the pace is quick. Props to the actors for knowing this script so well and being on top of each other and props to the director/writer for the strong choices. An easy addition into any fringe schedule in-between shows. ... full review

Getting to Know You

I walked out of this show. Thought to myself for about 5 minutes to myself. Then I looked at my schedule and bought another ticket. This is the only show I am going to see more than once at the fringe and once you go see it you'll want to do the same. Very well done. Truly committed actors each with a rich backstory. An incredible, very unique experience. Go and get your ticket because these shows sell out quick. Only 8 seats per performance.... full review

Magnum Opus Theatre Presents

I have never laughed harder, and longer from start to end. This show is pure brilliance. This is like "The Room" of theatre. It is so painfully hilarious listening to, and seeing this atrocious script. Anytime that Magnum Opus selects a new script, I am there. I cannot highly recommend this show enough. If you want to sit back and cry from laughter for a solid hour, then go to this show.... full review

Happy

Happy is quite the strange, yet engaging show. For the first half hour of the play you really have no idea where the story is going. Some fantastic crazy girl acting from Katherine Diaz. I dated a girl that was exactly like her portrayal of the character. It was kind of scary. At the time I was dating her and watching this performance. Things really start kicking in when Eduardo enters like a big ball of fire and gets some serious laughs. Then things get strange again, but it is all ramping up to... full review

Only the Moon Howls

For me, out of the 20+ shows that I've seen at this year's Fringe... this is the gem out of all shows. The writing/dialogue/structure/idea is just gorgeous. The acting from this small cast is so truthful. It's the only show that has made me cry so far this year. I planned on giving a much longer review because I have so many wonderful things to say about this show, but the most important is to go and see it. I would be shocked if someone came out of this show and told me they didn't like it. Well... full review
