I wish I had sat in the front row for this one. Robin Walsh plays the devil... and the devil is a puppet... and it's awesome. After about 3 minutes I found myself not paying attention to Robin the puppeteer and only looking at the devil himself and his red eyes. This is somehow a fully realized character, who speaks, moves and even plays the violin on stage. All while giving his thoughts about himself, humanity and our many flaws as a species. The Count of Monte Cristo: The Musical

When I heard that there was a musical version of Count of Monte Cristo I thought, "How are they going to pull that off?" Turns out when you have extremely talented people making it you can pull off quite a bit. This is an ambitious and engaging new look at the story we are all familiar with. Edmond Dantès going from prisoner to count has been told and retold several times in the decades since it was written, but I have never seen it told quite like this. The first thing I noticed while seeing "I Died.. I Came Back... Whatever" is what an incredibly natural actress Cyanne McClairian is. Not only did she move effortlessly playing doctors, friends, bullies, and even freaking Laurence Olivier. But she is also natural and endearing playing herself, both dead AND alive.
