Nick Pupo: Addicted

This is a show about addiction that is in fact not at all about addiction and really about a best friendship, honesty, betrayal, hamsters, and forgiveness---of yourself as well as your friends. I cried about ten minutes in, and then laughed through those tears until my hair stood on end, and then cried of laughter again. I left feeling utterly inspired about storytelling as a whole.... full review

Empathy Party

This show is striking not because it is in your face the whole time and showing Ariel's virtuosity as an actor, but because it feels as though your best friend is sitting across from you at a coffee shop confiding in you about the real shit he's been going through. In that sense, it is an incredibly moving piece---the sounds only heightening the casual and honest relationship Ariel creates with the audience. ... full review

Here's the deal: Josiah is a force to be reckoned with. This play is internal and external---presentational and real---past and present---homoerotic and heteronormative---gut-busting funny and gut-wrenching raw. The perspective he has on such relatively recent events blows me away, the depth of which feels like it should require years of distance. I don't want to spoil too much content because the element of surprise was HUGE for me in this piece. I'm in awe of this guy! Where the hell did he com... full review

This show changed me. I walked in with all of my baggage/insecurities/anxiety, but was reminded for just a moment that NONE OF THAT MATTERS WHEN YOU ARE LAUGHING FROM YOUR BELLY. The utterly raw commitment reminded me of when I was a kid playing pretend with my sister---inevitably devolving into an uncontrollable laugh attack. ... full review

BUGS!

This show goes like this: cringe, cringe, cringe, CATHARSIS. It leans into every joke sucks it for all its worth---like a tick. The moment you think a joke has fizzled out, it goes one step further. They are completely okay with losing the audience and with failing (in true clown fashion), which makes the moments where they win you back THAT much more delicious. I fucking loved it. I'm going to go fuck a spider now. ... full review

The story is fucked up---visceral, gag-inducing, and very sad---But it’s also laugh-out-loud HILARIOUS. It reminds me of Martin McDonagh and Trainspotting, so if you like that sort of thing you will LOVE this. It had me feeling a lot, laughing a lot, and floored by the mastery of it all!... full review

SO REFRESHING. I needed a dose of this at Fringe. A cast of incredibly talented, mischievous young actors and a hilarious, yet moving script. This show made me laugh, cry, and remember the value of friendship. ... full review
