Solomon: King, Poet & Lover - A Play About 1 Man & 700 Wives

An impressive display of character work and physicality in this inventive adaptation of religious-historical subject matter. Marcus is a consummate storyteller and performer, seamlessly transitioning from character to character using both vocal and physical differentiation. He maintains a high level of energy throughout the hour, keeping the audience engaged and involved in this entertaining retelling of pivotal moments in Solomon's life. I learned a lot of things I never knew I never knew about ... full review

SHAKESLESQUE (To Thine Own Cherry Be True)

This show exploded my expectations-- yes, I thought it would be a good time, yes, I expected some talented routines, but I thought it would resemble other burlesque acts where it was more of a collection of routines rather than a story actually being told. Well... WOW. This was so well put together, so cohesive, so perfectly executed, and just flawless from start to finish. Huge kudos to the writers for finding a way to seamlessly integrate a variety of cover songs/dances that otherwise would be ... full review

Somewhere Between Cosmo and the Bible

Ruth is an immensely talented writer and performer, and this show reflects all of her strengths. Her show travels to unexpected places, from the lighthearted to the deeply disturbing-- I found myself truly surprised by the turns it took on more than one occasion. While the show would benefit by some tightening/editing, the rawness and realness of the piece kept me engaged throughout. I am truly eager to see more of Ruth's work in the future to see how she evolves and continues to develop. Brava!... full review

Stringmates

A touching, family-friendly exploration of the concept of destiny and connection, Stringmates uses the extended metaphor of actual thread connecting "soulmates" in choreographed dance and dramatic scenes. At times funny, and very often poignant, this show creatively examines what a soulmate truly is-- perhaps romantic, but perhaps simply deep friendship, or deep, meaning-giving inspiration. Beautifully written and executed, and with no "language" or overly sexual scenes, it's a perfect Fringe opt... full review

Hey Hollywood, My Hustle Has ADHD

This show has every reason to not work and yet it does, wonderfully. It's chaotic and in a constant state of revision, as Rasika publicly confesses early on in the piece, and yet in spite of this seeming chaos, the piece moves smoothly and with brave confidence. Partially, this is because, as a piece about ADHD, the seeming disorder offers an illustration of Rasika's inner life, but even more importantly, the piece is carried by Rasika's incredible energy. As a seasoned performer and improviser, ... full review

Kinsherf's Coat

This tickled me. It's a very silly thing to do, and it was done wonderfully well-- the playbills were awesome. It was pretty much the fun part of before a show where you chat with other friends in the audience and look at the playbill, but then that was the entire thing. It was fun!... full review

Nic & Brooke's Comedy Dance Party

An incredibly entertaining show carried effortlessly by this charming and immensely talented duo! This variety act is everything you wish you could actually find on TV after 11:30PM on a Saturday, aka sketch that is actually good. Nic and Brooke are high energy, infectiously funny and incredibly good singers-- they deserve to have every night sold out! ... full review

This is an absolute must see. (For starters: LIVE DIDGERIDOO! That should be enough.) I came across this show because it randomly fit in my viewing schedule and am beyond delighted that I chanced it. This show takes an already fascinating/disturbing real life story and transforms it into a thought-provoking, transfixing work of theater. The ensemble's strong physical acting, the excellent direction, elegantly simple stage design and haunting musical accompaniment created a total work of art that ... full review

Best of INK presents CHARLIE MOOSE MAKES HIS MOVE

A delicious surrealist romp, with a tremendous ensemble. I was immediately engrossed and remained transfixed and entertained the entire time. I didn't know anything about the show, except that it was "good," and I'm glad I didn't-- there's really no way to be ready for this play, as it's unlike anything I've recently seen... though I would perhaps venture that it's along the lines of a David Ives, Betty's Summer Vacation line of bizarre hilarity (only I like it way more than that show, because t... full review

Bono and The Edge Waiting for Godomino's

A perfect parody with just the right dose of hilarity and heart. World-class acting with total commitment makes the comedy all the more heightened, and the piece generally delightful. Even if you haven't brushed up on your Beckett, you'll be totally transfixed by this immensely talented cast. As for those who do know Godot, the writing is spot on, and it's bizarre how well-suited the play adapts to being about U2 and pizza-- it takes a special kind of vision to see that connection, and Richard to... full review
