Titus Andronicus Jr.

This is Titus in a whole new way. Mr. Benjamin and his class did a bang up job living up to the violence and gore of Shakespeare's bloodiest play while putting their own spin on it, heck- topping it!... full review

This show was fun! Definitely a good time. It was at times cheesy, funny, creepy, moving, and overall- a good time. Congrats on an imaginative production!... full review

Indians in a Box: Stories From the Indian Boarding School

The stories presented were both educational and riveting. It really made learning some awful truths an entertaining and at times comedic experience ("every drama needs its comedic relief")! What a lovely start to what will become a wonderful touring production for Native Voices!... full review

Breaking Bard

'Breaking Bard' was a geniusly crafted script that melded the most famous lines in Shakespeares works with modern day 'Breaking Bad'. Having never seen 'Breaking Bad', I was still easily able to follow the story (and now don't need to binge watch 6 seasons on Netflix). The actors had a fabulous command of the language and of their Breaking Bad characters. Congrats to a fun, well done productions!... full review

Two Girls One Bard: Romeo & Juliet

'Two Girls One Bard: Romeo & Juliet' was a fun piece of long form sketch comedy. I'm not usually into sillier pieces, but I had a blast in this tour de force R&J. Would love to see which of the Bard's pieces these ladies take on next!... full review

Smile, Baby

As a woman I could relate to every word spoken and every emotion felt on that stage. And as I the show ended and I looked around the room, I was pleasantly surprised to see they weren't just preaching to the choir as the packed audience was nearly half men! In a hilarious and affecting 1 act, Savannah Dooley hits the nail on the head with 'Smile, Baby' that has up until now only been truly realized in the #YesAllWomen social media campaign. Cast standouts were Madison Shepard as Doug, Jessica De... full review

Tiananmen Annie

Ann Starbuck is a masterful storyteller. The story itself is riveting, but Ann brings a whole other life to it with the characters she presents. The simple but inspired set transports the tiny black box stage into an instantly iconic Chinese landscape. The sound design was evocative and poinent- perfectly designed to only add and never distract from the real emotion and story. This story and performance had so much heart and transported the audience right there to Tiananmen Square. Congrats t... full review

R&J, a gender-reversed Romeo and Juliet

tara donovan · June 14, 2015 certified reviewer
This was a really interesting portrayal of Romeo and Juliet. Let's face it- Romeo is basically a teenage girl, so the idea of him being portrayed by a woman is not that far off. What was surprising was the relationship between the Montague clan- Benvolia, Mercutia, and Romea. This trio of ladies having fun, drinking, being crass, and genuinely sharing love for one another was really well done. The relationship of Capulet being an overbearing and abusive mother to a sensitive son was also surpris... full review

Ex Communication

This is a cute and funny original work. Easily able to be portrayed as a jerk, Graham (played by Ivan Lovegren) comes off as sympathetic and lovable. Cast standout was Amy Granados. The brilliantly written "monologue" is one any woman has at least thought once about an ex and Granados delivery is meticulous and spot on.... full review
