Red Bastard

view project

Starring Eric Davis, currently featured in Cirque du Soleil’s IRIS, presented by Art Via Corpora.

WHAT IS RED BASTARD?

Red Bastard is not a clown. He is not here to please you. He has come to make you surrender.
His mission: To charm, disarm, shock and seduce. His target: You.

Experience America’s premiere Bouffon as he leads you through a no-holds barred theatrical master class— demanding the answer to nothing less than the existential query, “Who the hell do you think you are?” Lines will be crossed and laughs will be had in this interactive feast of biting wit, improvisation, and physical prowess. Audiences should be prepared for anything to happen in this interactive show, in which Red Bastard engages the audience in raw conversation, uncovering ridiculous and disturbing truths.

After 5-star reviews and sold-out shows across North America, Europe, Australia and now L.A., this dangerous, seductive comedy monster demands that “something interesting must happen every 10 seconds” … And it will!"

ADULTS ONLY.

Eric Davis (Red Bastard) created and currently stars in the role of Allen Smithee in Cirque du Soleil’s IRIS at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater. His show, Red Bastard, has played to sold out audiences and received 5 star reviews across North America, Europe and Australia. Mr. Davis was awarded the NY Golden Nose Award for Clown of the Year in 2010 and is a 2 time Finalist for the Andy Kauffman Award. He is the Co-Creator and director of the award winning Bouffon Glass Menajoree as well as a founder of the NY Clown Theatre Festival.

Deanna Fleysher is a performer, director and teacher of naked comedy. Inspired by clown, improv comedy, bouffon and physical theatre, she explores the bravery and vulnerability of being human. In New York, she created Foreplay, Kill Me Loudly (A Clown Noir) and The Kapinski Private Eye Academy, as well as performing her solo work at Galapagos, Symphony Space, and Lincoln Center. Her directing work includes Echo, “Emmet and Merril: To Opera With Love,” and Red Bastard. She is now a resident artist at Artworks Theatre in Los Angeles. www.buttkapinski.com

Sue Morrison is a world-class teacher of Clown and Bouffon, a sought after show creator, director, consultant, and has been instrumental in redefining clown for today’s world. Her intensive workshops allow for the emotional excavation necessary to evolve stellar performances, as exemplified by her many students in global powerhouses Cirque du Soleil, Second City, Blue Man Group, Slava’s Snow Show and as individual performers internationally. In addition to Red Bastard, Ms. Morrison co-created and directed Mr. Davis in ‘Absence of Magic’, acclaimed in both the Village Voice and TimeOut NY.

Today, Ms. Morrison’s unique and powerful work brings together the diverse elements of Native American and European Clowning, Bouffon, Le Jeu, Improvisation, and Puppetry, creating dynamic performances that grip the audience. Sue is regularly invited to speak at international theater conferences and her work is the focus of several documentaries and books. Most recently, Sue and co-author Veronica Coburn have written a book on the work titled “Clown through Mask: The Work of Richard Pochinko as Practiced by Sue Morrison”, published by Intellect Press.
