Fresh from South Coast Repertory! Monkey Wrench Collective revives its US Premiere of POOL (NO WATER) at The Flight Theatre in The Complex May 18!
Following a sold-out run at South Coast Repertory, Orange County’s very own theatrical outsiders, Monkey Wrench Collective, are proud to announce that their revival of Mark Ravenhill’s pool (no water) will move to The Flight Theatre in The Complex May 18, for a five-week run as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
A famous artist invites several friends to her new home and, for one night only, the group is back together. When the host suffers a horrific accident, an unthinkable plan takes shape: Could her suffering be their next art project? Exploding with dance, rock music and movement, be warned: This play contains nudity, adult language and sexual situations.
Playwright Mark Ravenhill’s first full-length play Shopping and Fu**ing was produced by Out of Joint and the Royal Court Theatre in association with the NT Studio, and opened at the Ambassadors in 1996. His subsequent work includes Some Explicit Polaroids (Out of Joint/West End), Mother Clap’s Molly House (National Theatre/West End), The Cut (Donmar Warehouse), the epic Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat (Edinburgh Fringe Festival/Paines Plough), the Barbican panto Dick Whittington & His Cat, and two texts for music theatre, Ten Plagues and The Coronation of Poppea, among others. Mr. Ravenhill is currently the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Writer-in-Residence.
Directed by the collective’s Artistic Director Dave Barton, the production’s choreography is by Angela Lopez and Lee Samuel Tanng. The production’s scenic design is by David Scaglione and costumed by Heather Girten. The cast of eleven features some of the best actors Orange County has to offer, including Peter Balgoyen, Christopher Basile, Keith Bennett, Sean Engard, Bryan Jennings, Jeffrey Kieviet, Jessica Lamprinos, Terri Mowrey, Alexander Price, Cynthia Ryanen and Melita Ann Sagar.
At The Flight Theatre in The Complex, the production runs May 18 through June 17 Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. The Flight Theatre in The Complex is located at 6476 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. General admission is $21.00 and students with ID are $15. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-838-3006 or on-line at http://tinyurl.com/poolFLIGHT
Discounted tickets are also available via Goldstar.
