MIND THE GAP (between you & your audience)
&
ACCESSIBILITY IN THE ARTS

free workshop presented by the Hollywood Fringe Festival (http://hff12.org/1025)

Thursday, June 7th from 3-6pm at Fringe Central Station 6314 Santa Monica Boulevard LA

PART 1: MIND THE GAP

Speaker: Cindy Marie Jenkins

3:00-4:15pm

Most self-producers have little time to find and build an audience beyond family and friends. That’s fine for now, but how can you invite strangers into your art and nurture people to continue supporting you financially and through attendance?

We’ll review typical mistakes that artists and companies don’t even realize they make, and brainstorm/train each other in how to bridge the gap between your potential audience and current marketing. Includes individual evaluation and take-aways you can use immediately at the Fringe.
All attendees receive complimentary social media consultation throughout the Fringe.

PART 2: ACCESSIBILITY IN THE ARTS

Get introduced to groups of people who would love to attend your live performances but literally aren’t invited because of limitations: deaf and hearing-impaired, visually impaired, young adults with special needs, parents, and more.
Don’t just meet these people, but also learn about the organizations who can assist you in funding and accessibility when you already have a tight budget.

Speakers include:

Teri Grossman, Visual Describer & Trainer – considerations and funding for visually impaired

Laura Hill, Managing Director Rogue Machine Theater & former Managing Director Deaf West Theatre, ASL Interpreter – considerations and funding for ASL interpreters

David Mack, Managing Director, Watts Village Theater Company – working with the Metro and collaborating with other artists

Jennie Webb, Playwright & Founder of LA FPI (Los Angeles Female Playwrights Initiative) – getting coverage and groups of playwrights to your show

You never know what doors this could open!
