Waitergonebad Presents “No Boundarys” at 2012 Hollywood Fringe

Los Angeles, CA – April 25, 2012 – Noel Olken may have gone to public school, but he really does know how to spell.

The choice to title his latest one-person show No Boundarys is an intentional play on words.

No Boundarys is about life, death and camping. Mostly life, some death, and a lot of camping. It’s a one-person show about two guys on a canoe trip to the beautiful Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, where it’s so quiet and peaceful, even a small plane seems out of place. After a long day canoeing and portaging, there’s nothing better than sitting by a fire under the stars, drinking scotch and telling stories of gamblers, drinkers, dreamers, bears and loons. What happens in the Boundary Waters, stays there. And what happens outside never gets in.

No Boundarys is also about losing a father. The main character lost his father 9 weeks earlier, and he tells his friend stories about his old man, about growing up in a Jewish household full of secrets. When your father was a bookie, loose lips sink ships. That leads to stories about the people and events that shaped his life. He explores his inner world (sometimes with the help of mind expanding compounds) and the world around him. It’s these events and stories, both large and small, which change us and shape us and make us who we are.

No Boundarys features a sound design by Jeff Gardner (Kill Your Television, Antaeus Theatre).
