In Meeting #7, an orientation-leader delivers a presentation, as if the audience are aliens, who have just arrived at an immigration center on planet earth. Peppered with gestural dance and framed by colorful floor-to-ceiling projection on two walls the “orientation” uses humor as a method for processing the the compounded (and seemingly endless!) traumas with which humans live in the 2020s. The show functions as an antidote to the relentless darkness in the news cycle by offering a (temporary) space for collective reflection and laughter. Meeting #7 is created and performed by dance theater artist Annie Kahane, with animated projections by filmmaker and graphic designer Ethan Alesch. The Hollywood Fringe Festival will be the Los Angeles premiere of this project.
