Los Angeles, CA – April 21, 2024 – This summer, audiences at the Hollywood Fringe Festival will be treated to a unique theatrical experience that explores the transformative potential of dramatherapy. “Dissent” will premiere at the festival, promising to challenge and inspire attendees who have yet to witness theatre arts used as a tool for healing.

Combining the art of drama with the therapeutic process, “Dissent” takes audiences on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and cultural exploration by use of Narradrama techniques and influence from Internal Family Systems. Through a series of adventuresome and surreal scenes, the play delves into the life of a brooding, thinky painter, named Satya, using the medium of theater to illuminate their struggles and triumphs as she traverses the Land of Lost Time.

Written and directed by Cassandra Ambe, a graduate student in Marriage and Family Therapy at CSUN and Dramatherapy alternative track student at Dramatherapy Institute of Los Angeles, “Dissent” showcases the intersection of creativity and healing. With a talented ensemble cast and innovative storytelling techniques, the production promises to leave a lasting impact on audiences.

“Dissent” will have several performances during the Hollywood Fringe Festival, providing multiple opportunities for theatergoers to experience this transformative production.
