23 MAY 11: Sterman Productions, in association with Delta Highway, is proud to announce the World Premiere production of LIGHTS UP ON THE FADE OUT by the New York LABrynth Theatre Company’s Padraic Lillis, a work developed as part of the LABrynth’s Barn Series. Directed by Ron Canada, LIGHTS UP ON THE FADE OUT will premiere Thursday, June 16 at the Lillian Theatre, 1076 Lillian Way in Hollywood, as part the 2011 Hollywood Fringe Festival, then will extend and continue to play through Sunday, July 10. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Featuring Mark Bramhall, Thomas Hildreth, James Parks and Alina Phelan, LIGHTS UP ON THE FADE OUT is being produced by Misty Carlisle, with set design by William Moore Jr., lighting by Jeff McLaughlin, sound by Joe Slo Slawinski, costuming by Michele Rede, video design by Adam Flemming, and graphic design by Roy Cruz. John Freeland Jr. serves as Production Stage Manager and LIGHTS UP ON THE FADE OUT was cast by Fran Bascom.

LIGHTS UP ON THE FADE OUT is the all-too familiar tale of a man facing challenges in his love and family while still trying to hold on to his idealistic view of life. When Stephen finally believes he has found love with his long time friend Kristina, who has run away from her own wedding the night before, the day that begins perfectly—until Stephen has to suddenly care for his father, who is in the early stages of dementia.

Up-and-coming playwright Padraic Lillis’ LAKE EFFECT was part of this season’s Festival of New Works at Geva Theater, where he also directed UNERNEATH THE LINTEL. He is currently adapting the best selling novel STRANGERS ON A BRIDGE for Palermo Productions. His play TWO THIRDS HOME was produced in New York by the Broken Watch Theater and is published by Dramatist Play Services, and RONNIE’S MASK was produced in Chicago at the Steppenwolf Performance Garage. Lillis’ Off-Broadway directing credits include Scott Hudson’s SWEET STORM with Alchemy Theatre in Association with LAByrinth Theater Company, Michael Puzzo’s THE DIRTY TALK for Spare Change Productions at Center Stage, New York (nominated by NY IT for Outstanding Director), Matt Hoverman’s IN TRANSIT for the New York International Fringe Festival (awarded Best Play), Adina Taubman’s A LINE IN THE SAND, a docudrama based on the school shootings at Columbine for the Midtown International Theater Festival (awarded Best Production). Mr. Lillis also directed the national tour of SHE LOVES ME and was awarded the Dayton Hudson Distinguished Artist Fellowship in residence at Carlton College. He is an adjunct professor with the Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU, the Resident Director for Alchemy Theater, a company member of the LAByrinth Theater Company, and an alumnus of The Drama League Director’s Project.

Director Ron Canada’s numerous film credits include WEDDING CRASHERS and CINDERELLA MAN for director Ron Howard, NATIONAL TREASURE, THE HUMAN STAIN, THE UNITED STATES OF LELAND, and THE HUNTED. He received the Dallas Film Critics Award and significant national attention for his performance in John Sayles’ acclaimed feature LONE STAR. Other film appearances include AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT, MAN OF THE HOUSE, and he has worked twice with director Chris Columbus in HOME ALONE 2 and ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING. He performed leading roles in ABOVE SUSPICION with Christopher Reeve and Joe Mantegna and LAST OF THE FINEST with Brian Dennehy. Onstage, he starred as Iago opposite Patrick Stewart at the National Shakespeare Theater of Washington, DC. and has worked extensively in the American theatre, winning a Drama-Logue Award for THE BOYS NEXT DOOR and in other LA productions including MACBETH, MISS JULIE and LOVE SUICIDE AT SCHOFIELD BARRACKS directed by Harris Yulin. He has performed at the Mark Taper Forum in THE TASK and PRIVATE BATTLE, and at San Diego’s Old Globe, San Jose Rep, and Cincinnati Playhouse. He began his professional acting career at Washington D.C.’s Arena Stage after achieving acclaim and an Emmy Award in the broadcast news world.

Producer Misty Carlisle has been a theatre producer, director, and actor for the last dozen years. She produced and directed LA Times’ Recommended and BackStage Critics Pick GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS at the Egyptian Arena Theatre and other selected producing credits include BENT (LA Weekly Pick of the Week), LIFE, DEATH AND ENTERTAINMENT (Santa Monica Playhouse), ANTEROOM (2100 Square Feet), JIMMY GAMBLE (Entertainment Today Critics Pick), FREE THE WILD BEAST (Entertainment Today Critics Pick), and BURN THIS (Egyptian Arena Theatre). As an actor, she has guest appeared on 24 and DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and she has also enjoyed venturing into prop design, currently for the Fountain Theatre and for past productions at the Odyssey, Lillian, and for Circle X.

Mark Bramhall began acting professionally in 1966, in the original company of San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre and through its first five seasons. He has performed off-Broadway, at regional theatres nationwide and many local playhouses, including some 34 productions at Southern California’s celebrated classical repertory company A Noise Within, where he is a Resident Artist. Most recently, he portrayed the title character in Padraic Duffy’s PUZZLER at Sacred Fools. Accolades include L.A. Drama Critics Circle, Ovation, Garland, LA Weekly and Drama-Logue honors, and numerous awards for audiobook narrations. Among his many film and TV credits are STAR TREK (2009), VANILLA SKY, INTRODUCING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE, NIP/TUCK, WEEDS, 24, ER, and ALIAS.

Thomas Hildreth is reunited with Ron Canada, who directed both he and James Parks in Michael Weller’s SPLIT at the Elephant Asylum, and with Mark Bramhall and James Parks, with whom he appeared in JOAN OF ARC, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, CYMBELINE, THE ILIAD, OTHELLO, and THE TEMPEST (starring Ron Canada). Thomas has appeared in several productions with the Classical Theatre Lab in numerous theaters around LA, over a dozen productions at The Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Berkshire Theatre Festival, among others. He returns to New York this fall to play a leading role in the world premiere of THE INVESTED by Sharyn Rothstein, also directed by Ron Canada. He has appeared on television in 24, NUMBERS, DHARMA & GREG, several daytime dramas, independent films, and played the lead role in the independent film ISLANDER directed by Ian McCrudden.

James Parks has been working on the stage in LA for longer than most marriages. Including THE ORESTIA with The Actors Gang, ALL MY SONS at the Odyssey, PTERODACTYLS at South Coast Repertory, JULIUS CAESAR at the Mark Taper Forum, THE TEMPEST with CTL, and SPLIT at the Lillian. On television, he’s been seen on TRUE BLOOD, DEADWOOD, and many of the majors. His films include RED STATE AMIGOS, GRINDHOUSE and KILL BILL.

Alina Phelan was recently seen in Circle X’s LACSIVIOUS SOMETHING (TicketHolder Award as Best Supporting Actress), LOVE WATER at Open Fist, and FAMILY PLANNING with Chalk Rep (Ovation Award nomination). She is a proud member at Theatre of N.O.T.E. where she played HAMLET (Garland Award), YELLOW/FLESH/ALABASTER/ROSE, BING, and SHAKE…, among many others. She was in the film LAKE CITY with Sissy Spacek, SHREK 2 & 3, CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN, and the current film festival darling comedy horror film THE SELLING. TV performances include Young and the Restless, Criminal Minds, Strong Medicine, ER, and Lie to Me.
