Dámaso Rodriguez questions Sixth Avenue’s Fact & Fiction for The Hollywood Fringe Festival

Sixth Avenue, a new production company, debuts at the 2nd Annual Hollywood Fringe Festival with the world premiere play Fact & Fiction by William Nedved, directed by Dámaso Rodriguez, featuring William Nedved and Adam Silver. The production plays June 13, 16, 20 & 23 at the Elephant Theatre, 6322 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, 90038 . The press performance is Monday, June 13, 2011 at 8:00pm. Performance times are Mondays at 8pm, Thursdays at 10pm. Tickets are $15 and available at 6avenue.org.

In Fact & Fiction, William recollects his year in Brazil as a high school exchange student – the worst exchange student ever. Adam confesses to being stalked by a vengeful film student. Both dudes bring to life hilariously unreliable stories that will, quite truthfully, blow your mind.

Tale #1: “FACT” – Using passages from his actual journal, William recounts, corrects and recants the tale of leaving rural Iowa for a coastal Brazilian city where he was taken in by a host family straight out of a telenovela. As this travelogue of sunburn and wanderlust unfolds, William reflects back on why he kept that journal (in such good penmanship), and what it all means now.

Tale #2: “FICTION” – Adam is a Chicago-bred actor living in Los Angeles taking on the daunting role of Adam, a Chicago-bred actor living in Los Angeles who is being stalked by a deranged and relentlessly autobiographical filmmaker. Suspend your disbelief for this creepy, thrilling and howlingly funny true-ish tale.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:

“I first worked with Adam Silver at Live Bait Theatre in Chicago, a company known for launching solo shows such as Late Night Catechism and work by Jeff Garlin and This American Life’s David Kodeski,” explains playwright William Nedved. “Sine then we’ve both been interested in exploring the monologue form, but also interrogating the need to tell one’s story in our confessional culture.”

Adam Silver, actor and founder of Sixth Avenue states, “It’s a joy and honor to perform and produce this world premiere play, which combines elements of a literary reading, stand-up comedy, and multi-media performance. And because it is indeed a play, we’ve collaborated with acclaimed director Dámaso Rodriguez, whose entertaining and provocative productions have been amongst my favorite in Los Angeles.”

Director Dámaso Rodriguez notes, “Collaborating on Fact & Fiction was an easy decision. I was immediately impressed with Will’s smart, funny and difficult-to-categorize script, and I already knew Adam as an exciting actor whose work I admired. Plus, it’s great to be a part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival, which had such a promising launch last year."
