RE: Immersive sci-fi experience from Lucid Dramatics & Spy Brunch LLC comes to Hollywood Fringe Festival in June

Lucid Dramatics (Laertes Loves Hamlet Loves Ophelia) and Spy Brunch LLC (Safehouse ’77) are thrilled to announce their joint immersive production, The Pod, a unique immersive sci-fi experience in which one audience member at a time will join an AI companion for a training simulation in preparation for a deep-space journey.

Created by immersive veterans Katelyn Schiller and Nick Rheinwald-Jones, The Pod will explore the physical and emotional realities of space travel and artificial intelligence over the course of a twenty-minute encounter that is personalized to each participant. The show draws inspiration from film, theater, video games, and theme park rides, with the goal of delivering a one-of-a-kind experience that will have a lasting emotional impact.

Nick Rheinwald-Jones launched Spy Brunch LLC as a film production company in 2013 but shifted its focus to immersive theater in 2017. He created, directed, and co-starred in Safehouse ’77, an immersive experience which combined a 1970s Los Angeles house party with a spy thriller. In 2018, he wrote and co-produced CoAct Productions’ The Sideshow, an immersive play set behind the scenes of a 1920s traveling circus.

Katelyn Schiller co-founded Lucid Dramatics in 2014 and debuted her solo show Murder Blood Bear Story which inspired her tours to Louisiana, Hawaii, and Canada, winning “Best in Festival” and “Best Performance”. Every summer since she has written and acted in productions for the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and in 2018 she co-created and co-starred in Laertes Loves Hamlet Loves Ophelia, which received the Fringe Award for “Best Ensemble Production”. In the immersive theatre world, she has performed in hit shows including C(ovell), Safehouse ’77, and The Sideshow, multiple productions with Drunken Devil and Sampson Creative Enterprises, and Hollywood’s Cloak & Dagger club.

After collaborating on both Safehouse ’77 and The Sideshow, The Pod is Schiller and Rheinwald-Jones’s first immersive show as co-creators. They are now co-writing Safehouse ’82, the sequel to Safehouse ’77, which will premiere in November.

The Pod runs for 90 performances over ten dates beginning June 6, at the Thymele Arts building in Los Angeles (5481 Santa Monica Blvd).
