Los Angeles, CA (May 31, 2018) – LOVE TAKES A STAND: A REVO⅃UTION is a personal and socio/political love jam; a new musical experience featuring theatrical-jazz-folk fusion with stylized narrative; a Jukebox Musical making its World Premiere this June at the 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Written and directed by veteran actor and writer Brett Rickaby, LOVE TAKES A STAND is under the musical direction of renowned composer, conductor, and pianist Emilio Palame, featuring an auspicious professional debut by female lead Kaitlyn Rickaby. LOVE TAKES A STAND is a rousing call to love in action! It can be seen at The Hobgoblin Theater, 6520 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028 on select dates from June 1 – June 22nd.

LOVE TAKES A STAND weaves a personal love narrative into a spirited glimpse at universal love archetypes, which leads to a rousing sociopolitical call to love in action. LOVE features exciting new arrangements of some of the finest songs from the classic, jazz, folk, and blues canons.

BRETT RICKABY, writer and director – Brett is a veteran actor of the stage and over 70 films and television shows including, The Orville, Criminal Minds, A Million Ways to Die The West, The Crazies, and will appear this July in Stephen King and J.J. Abrams’ Hulu thriller Castle Rock. Brett most recently performed on stage as Heisenberg in the The Rubicon Theatre’s production of Copenehagen. He helped originate The Bottle House, a play comprised of Sam Shepard short stories at The Public Theatre in New York. His plays 70 Dollars to a Bus Ride Home and Asylum were produced at the Hudson Avenue Theatre and The Court Theatre respectively. He played Jigger Craigin in The National Tour of Nicholas Hytner’s Carousel and will appear this summer in Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ An Octoroon at Chautauqua Theatre Company directed by Giovanna Sardelli.

EMILIO PALAME, musical director, arrangements, pianist – A 40-year veteran professional/keyboardist/vocalist/arranger, who was accompanist/conductor for the legendary vocalist Miss Peggy Lee for 11 years, and has performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Pittsburg, and Milwaukee Symphonies, and with many other major artists, from Paul Williams, Lanie Kazan and Connie Stevens, to Chuck Mangione.
