RELEASE: ‘OUTSTANDING SONGWRITING’ AWARD-WINNERS RETURN TO HOLLYWOOD FRINGE WITH “TURBULENCE!”

Hollywood, CA – Robot Teammate is delighted to announce the world premiere of their original musical space race comedy TURBULENCE!, coming to the Sacred Fools Theater main stage during the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival. TURBULENCE! is the musical comedy collective’s third consecutive production to premiere at Fringe, following the “Outstanding Songwriting” award-winning production of THUG TUNNEL (2016) and sold-out run of TIMEHEART (2015).

Founded in 2012, Robot Teammate established itself as one of LA’s premier musical comedy groups, wowing theatergoers by creating improvised musicals based on audience suggestions at venues including UCB, iO West, and LA ComicCon before they began scripting musicals collaboratively in 2015. TURBULENCE! was conceived during an improvisation at Impro Theatre in 2016, and the book, lyrics, and music have since been refined through writing sessions with the Robot Teammate ensemble.

The cast features Kat Primeau, Miles Crosman, and Molly Dworsky as well as “Most Unleashed Performance 2016” nominees Dave Reynolds and Chris Bramante. Miles Crosman serves as head writer, with direction by Molly Dworsky and Sam Johnides as musical director. The TURBULENCE! poster was created by illustrator Monica M. Magana.

The Story: The 4242 Intergalympics have arrived and the bitter rivalry between the people of Earth and Mars is at an all-time fever pitch. An epic race around the Sun concludes the games, but when an untimely incident renders Earth’s competitors unable to race, a haphazard crew and their robot Mambo 4 (Dave Reynolds) must step in as last minute replacements. Can Captain Davin Galaxy (Miles Crosman) prove that Earth isn’t the shabby dirt turd the Martians think it is? Will astrophysicist Joules Johnson (Kat Primeau) be able to master turbulence to their advantage? Can demolition derby mechanic Mick Cribbins (Chris Bramante) translate his expertise in space? And will nihilist navigation specialist Pattern MaGerk (Molly Dworsky) find a way to really care about it all? Find out in this high-speed, high-stakes original musical comedy from the creators THUG TUNNEL. Ready. Set. Space!

Performances will take place at Sacred Fools Theater Main Stage (located at 1076 Lillian Way, LA, CA 90038). The show is family-friendly (ages 10+), contains flashing lights, and runs 55 minutes.
