WE MAKE MOVIES LAUNCHES ITS THIRD ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL AS PART OF THE HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL

WMMFest 2015

LOS ANGELES (May 19, 2015) –Los Angeles based film collective, We Make Movies, is hosting its third annual film festival as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival from June 11th – June 27th. The festival features films and web series produced, shot, and workshopped by the We Make Movies film community in Los Angeles. The festival takes place at Three Clubs Cocktail Lounge in Hollywood and admission is $10.

Over the course of five nights, the festival will present content created by many of WMM’s talented filmmakers, including Zack Van Eyck, Sam Mestman, David Beatty, Patrick Duncan, Michael Russnow, Garrett B. Robinson, Jeffrey Ashkin, Chad Kukahiko and Krista Amigone.

We Make Movies boasts the first functional format for a member-funded, owned, and run film and television production studio and has recently publicly launched its Patreon campaign that covers all of its production expenses as well as a rolling production fund to create member-written, produced, shot, and distributed content. Patreon is a crowd-funding website, similar to Kickstarter and Indiegogo, but unlike other fundraising services that raise money for a single big event, Patreon is for creators who create a stream of ongoing works.

Founded in 2009, We Make Movies (WMM) is a free Los Angeles-based community of over 4,000 independent filmmakers, writers, and actors dedicated to empowering creative professionals and providing the resources and connections that will help them get their movies made. WMM currently has 5 shorts, three features, and three pilots they plan to shoot in the next six months.

The WMM community has directly funded 18 independent films. In addition, more than 80 shorts and six full-length features, and an official WMM Sketch Show have been produced after being developed through their workshops. A considerable amount of these films have accrued accolades in several film festivals around the world, and have also found distribution on various VOD platforms. WMM also produces and distributes educational industry podcasts “How We Make Movies”, “FCPX tutorials”, “Film Geeks”, and the newly acclaimed “Film Central”.
